The Municipality of Huron East received funding to purchase new waste receptacles, benches and other street furniture and beautification elements for downtown Brussels. The new waste receptacles will replace the current ones, which are in poor condition and some will have both waste and recycling.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the quick poll and voted on their favourite bench and waste receptacle. Staff decided to go with Bench Option 1 to provide accessible bench options for those with mobility issues in the downtown. Receptacle Option 3 was chosen (second highest number of votes) as it is from the same company as Bench Option 1 and very similar to the one that received the most votes.

The street furniture is expected to be installed late October 2024.
