The Municipality of Huron East is considering a restructuring of Council, which includes decreasing the number of Council members to 9 and potentially removing the ward structure.

In July of 2022, a Public Advisory Committee reviewed the size and structure of Huron East Council. From there, the recommendation for a 9 Member Council was brought forward.

Current Council Structure

- Mayor
- Deputy Mayor appointed by Council (reduces one ward representatives to 1)
- 2 representatives for Brussels
- 2 representatives for Grey
- 2 representatives for McKillop
- 2 representatives for Seaforth
- 2 representatives for Tuckersmith

Proposed Council Structure: 9 Members

- Mayor
- Deputy Mayor appointed by Council
- 2 representatives for a new ward that combines Brussels and Grey
- 2 representatives for a new ward that combines McKillop and Seaforth
- 2 representatives for the current Tuckersmith ward
- 2 Councillors elected at large
